The 3 essentials for getting your salon Halloween ready

Halloween is one of the more popular holidays celebrated in the United States, and has been trending all over the world in recent years. Friends and families get together and spend time dressing up as spooky characters and collecting treats, attending late-night parties or local festivals. However, before doing so, they need to look the part, and fake blood, luminous hair colorisations and corpse paint are all done in hair and beauty businesses. To get in on the action, here is how you should prepare accordingly in order to make the most out of this holiday.

Create a thought-out plan

Before you begin ordering fake blood and candy, you should first discuss the event with your staff, as chances are they may have other plans. After doing so, you should create an objective for this event - are you looking to bring in more revenue? Get the word out about your salon and services? Or grow your customer base? Here are some ideas for reaching your goals:

  • Bring in more revenue: Offer customers a variety of Halloween themed services and provide a few discounted products.
  • Getting the word out about your salon: Give customers your gift card and invite them to bring in their friends next time. It would also be worth having your business’s social media pages on the card, in order for them to find you more easily.
  • Growing your customer base: After providing a service, ask each customer if they would be interested in receiving attractive offers from the salon. Store their relevant information (name, phone number, email, etc.) in your Booksy customer database, and send a thank you message to all of those that attended your Halloween event.

Spread the word about your event

With your staff informed and a goal in mind, you should begin to prepare your event promotions and activate them at least 2.5 weeks in advance, as customers need to make time for this in their busy schedules. Creating the event on Facebook is perfect for attracting clients that follow your page, or better yet, launch a newsletter from your Booksy account to directly reach your customer base. Include all relevant information, like the time and place of the event, along with activities that will be hosted and any prerequisites needed for attendance. This is the perfect situation to begin working on your goal - encourage customers to bring their friends. In return, they will receive an attractive offer or even a regular discount. Your most loyal customers are the best brand promoters, and with their help, your customer base, revenue and brand awareness will skyrocket. Keep in mind that as the event date draws closer, you must remind clients a few days prior.

Tip: In addition - it is worth looking into Facebook and Instagram ads for localised event promotion.

During and after the event

After all necessary shopping has been done and you have prepared the treats, Halloween decor, facepaint and drinks, you are ready to get started! During most of the evening, you and the team will probably be considerably busy - but make sure to find some time for networking with the attendees. Get to know as many new people as possible and provide them a business card - if they are enjoying themselves and the service, chances are they will gladly become your customers, if they are not already. As the event comes to a close, make sure to thank everyone that attended and leave them a parting gift - entice them with a surprise award for being present, which they will receive via email or text. A 10% discount on any service, a free gift bag for referring their friend of family member to your business, or a buy one, get one free offer are just a few ideas to get you started. Make sure to add pictures from the event on your social media pages and tag customers that attended. They will love this kind gesture and will value your commitment in making sure customers are feeling and looking great.
